1 5 grand you say for 21,000 miles?
i mean...cmon! It would be such a good short range commuter for me to keep miles off of (and gallons out of) the cruiser. hmm.

Seeing one of these run an autox event is still my favorite thing I've ever seen at autocross. They are decently quick but damn do they look frightening going around turns like that. I've ridden in once as an Uber passenger before and thought the dash/gauges seemed ridiculous but kinda neat.

As long as you can live with the Leaf stigma

I don’t like the leaf, the i3 interior though...I love.

What kind of range do these have?

My wife isn’t a car person and rarely has any kind of reaction to a car she sees on the street but when an i3 went past one day she couldn’t help but blurt out something about how that was the ugliest car she had ever seen. Later on that night she started up again about how amazingly ugly “that car” was. I had to laugh because while I don’t really like the transportation pod look it’s not what I would call “ugly” and I don’t know why she had such an emotional response to it.
I’m (slightly) tempted to get one as my new DD just to see her internal conflict between riding in a car she hates or taking her car places for a change.

The interior on the i3 is much better.

epa says 81, figure 50 real miles. I rarely exceed that in my daily.

This was me buying her a Toyota (lexus) which she hates.

I so want to find a place that will let me autox the cruiser...just for S&G. it actually turns it pretty flat when its lightly loaded because of the increased spring rate and shocks meant for load.

I’ m going 38 miles one way, so this might work for me if the EPA was right.

or if you could plug in when you got there. My current commute is about 8 miles one way so this is perfect. plus I like the idea of having a lot of spare battery around. I would love to see if there is a way to tap the 360 v circuit to power an inverter.

Lightweight, mid engine, RWD, carbon fibre everything .....
This needs a Hayabusa swap. Yank out all of the electric motors and batteries first, obviously. Shouldn’t be too difficult, or expensive for that matter.

There’s been some really cheap CPO models at my local dealer. Very tempting for a school run car. Especially if you can get one with the generator.
I love the interiors of these things.

Overall difficulty is directly correlated with
how varied your assort
ment of hammers is, along with how much duct tape you have available.

Look at a 1st gen Volt (2013+) if you are looking at i3s. About the same price and pretty good electric range, plus no range anxiety

I have a good range anxiety mitigation technique; the Land Cruiser. I really don’t like the 1st gen volt. coworker used to have one. felt like the riatta of the 21st century.

If you drive gently and stick to the speed limit, it shouldn’t be hard to beat the EPA numbers.

Local, small regions are your friends. Generally scca says you can't race anything that is taller than it is wide. But some regions are more lax than others. I figure as long as you don't put Hoosiers on it and you take some caution, not much could really go wrong.

The handle well. All the weight is down really low. I’d go for it.

That is a a good deal, but much much more than I can afford. I also do not have an outdoor electrical outlet let alone one in my driveway.

Shh! Don't tell people! I'm hoping prices continue to fall so that I can score a good deal on one.

Depends on everything- temp, terrain, traffic, tempo. I’ve burned less than 4 gallons of gas in mine since July 2017. But I still haven’t road-tripped it.

I’ve gotten used to the interior— lived the ergonomics from the get-go, but it still feels weird driving so high, even after more than a year with it. Also, the light-colored fabrics will stain if you look at it the wrong way.

I’ve burned less than 4 gallons of gas in my REx since last July (‘17).
I really can’t recommend it highly enough, for the most part.

Only one issue so far (15 months on a ‘14, CPO warranty), which was the driver’s seat temp sensor for the seat heater. Had them fix it when I took it in for the airbag recall.
So, yeah. No issues. And with a little coding, all the worries about range and all the annoying UI stuff- gone. Except for the fact that it won’t unlock all doors and the trunk when you open the driver’s door. That’s my only beef.
It’s just effortless in every way.

Meh! The Leaf and Ford Focus Electric are cheaper. If cheap is the factor, they are better deals.
